Hi All,
I have done modal analysis in ANSYS STRUCTURAL and INVENTOR FEM and i also did static analysis using both softwares and compared the results with that from ANSYS CLASSIC. I have one problem with the Modal deformation i am getting from ANSYS STRUCTURAL. The values are very different from those i am getting from Inventor FEM. The values from ANSYS STRUCTURAL are too large to be true, even though the modal frequencies are closer and more realistic. Any idea what might be wrong? When i do the static analysis and compare the "Total Deformation" the values are very close and realistic.

Your help would be apppreciated.

Thanks!
James

Firstly, what is 'modal deformation'? - You need to read up what the modal results are, they certainly are not deflections as a modal analysis is 'un-forced'.

Comparing static deflections is sensible and a good verification tool.
