Hallo maybe someone can help me,

I am trying to model an embankment on a soft soil (clay) layer.

Embankment with Mohr Coulomb material
Soft soil with Cam Clay material

I need to input initial conditions (at least for the soft soil). My problem is that because of the gradient of the embankment, the initial vertical stress of the soft soil is not constant in this clay-layer.
So I have solver problems and also the results are incorrect.

I tried with “model change remove/Add” to evade this problem and to input initial conditions only for the soft soil with are constant over the layer without the embankment:

What I exactly did:
First Step: with *model change, remove, I removed the embankment in the first step. My only load in the first step was the self-weight of the soft soil. I also removed all interactions from the first step to the second.

Second step: with *model change, add, I added the embankment again. But the ABAQUS-calculation stopped when I gave the embankment its weight. I saw in the results that there was a very small space between the embankment and the soft soil.

I tried to solve this problem with different tricks, for example to close this space with a boundary displacement but nothing worked. Maybe someone of you has an idea and can help me

Thanks
