Hi everybody
Quick question:
I found a couple Topics about Revision in Siemens NX. Most of you who have TC use Revision for models or drawings. Is there possibility to use Revision in native NX if I don't use Teamcenter (I don't have TC not at all). I have found some option in : "teamcentrer implementation in nx" that enable or disable Revision but I suspect that is only for Teamcenter.
Can I make model Revision in native NX ?

a revision is usually jsut a suffix to a part number, so if you're working in Native, then simply doing a "Save As" and changing the revision to the next character in the sequence is basically creating a new revision. What teamcenter does is store all these revisions under an Item and in our case you we can only have one revisions as WIP as it is potentially dangerous to have more than 1 WIP revision, so we can only save as to a new revision once the current revision has been released and given a status which basically makes the part read only. This way if you want to edit the part, you would revise it to the next level. However in Native, you have much less control, so yes you can create revisions by just by saving as the part and changing the revision level, but you would some sort of release mechanism to ensure that the previous revision gets locked or read only status.

Best regards

Hello
Thank you JCBCAD,and Desgur. I suspect the revision system in NX mustn't be so complicated. NX is very powerful system and there should be good system for revision in native version (without TC). We will not get TC because our designer teem has only 4 member therefore TC is to advanced solution. General I know this link about Revision in NX and that's way I have asked on forum because there is something wrong. I did everything like in that blog ( I didn't find "allow substitution"option -this is only one difference). I saved one Part name (save as) to XXX__01 and I opening assembly with Part: XXX... NO CHANGE. Loading newer revision doesn't work.
Any suggestion?

The "allow substitution" has been renamed "Allow replacement".I assume that it is what's missing.

Tomas

Allow replacement is the new title of the option (but that is probably not the concern)
Is the existing component part XXX... using the valid syntax for a revision? e.g. XXX__00.prt
Try switching to Search dirs (instead of from folder) then use the verify dirs option that becomes available at the bottom of the search dirs portion of the dialog.
This will produce a report to the listing window showing which files in the directory follow the reversion rule from the customer defaults, which do not, and which are considered versions of the same part name. (does XXX__01 show as a revision of XXX... ?)

Hello
Thank you Toots and jpetach for your replay. You are very helpful.
I have checked your solution and now is ok
Moreover I checked also how revision works with settings: "search dirs" and "from folder". There are no difference, it works good.
Most important is to use the first version of the file with endings: "__00" and then next revision will have folowing endings: "__01", "__02" ...

Look at the attachment.
Regards.
