So... randomly when I am working (with native NX models), some, but not all surfaces will disappear when I view them from a certain angle.
Once this occurs the only way to repair it is to do a view regenerate.

Any ideas on what settings or video card issues might be causing a random surface to disappear.

Oh, and I say surface, but all my models are fully solid.

First things first, do you have the latest supported graphics driver? Also what version of NX are you running and what are your system spec's? Do you see this on more than one workstation?

Ok.
NX 6.0.5.3

XP pro, 64bit, SP2
Xeon E5405, 2.0GHz
8GB ram

ATI FireGL V5600, driver 8.634.0.0

I am the only workstation using NX.

Until you've determined whether you have the lastest certified driver, there's much we can do. If you do get that proper driver and the problem persists, please contact GTAC and see if they can help you.

Thanks John.
I don't even know what "Certified Driver" means...
Is there a list somewhere?

I had this happen before a long time ago. It was a setting somewhere under preferences. I'm sorry I can't remember which one, but that is exactly what I was seeing and I thought it was my graphics driver.

OK, there could be a couple of things. If your model is made of surfaces or if only the surfaces are what's being affected, try going to...

Preferences -> Visualization -> Visual

...and in the General Display Settings section of the dialog, make sure that the 'Two-Sided Light' option is toggled ON.

If that wasn't it, and it tends to be smaller components, try going to...

Preferences -> Visualization Performance -> Large Model

...and see if in the Profiles section of the dialog, the Model Size option is set to 'Large' or 'Custom'. If so, change it to 'Automatic' and see if that helps.
