Hi,

I use Solidworks a lot before, editting/modelling parts in top assembly, planes(or other reference geometry) in different components can be shared. I noticed planes from different components can't be shared in UG/NX8, also plane created in assembly level can't be used in part modelling. I was wondering if it is possible that I can create parts in assembly mode directly and use geometry from other components as reference?

Thanks.

Yes, you can and you have the option to either associativily link your models to those other parts or not. When modeling in the context of an Assembly, many of the functions provide the option to select references in the context of an Assembly by setting the Selection Scope to 'Entire Assembly' and next to is an icon to toggle ON/OFF the option to create associative links or not.
