in the past... you could model any style thread and send it to 3D printer, now you have no choice (this is a question not a statement) of the style of thread?? really with the current availability of 3d printers and Siemens decided to stop offering it??? is there a work around other than sweep????

when was the "past" ?
I have NX6 and later installed, the image is NX7.5.
I am not that sure that any other thread profiles ( similar to UN/Metric) was possible when you selected the "full feature" option.

Edit , i now know what an Acme thread is.

Have you tried playing with the variables for the detail thread, having it produce an Acme ?

I'm not aware of any Acme Thread modeling function. The only thread-form modeling function built into UG/NX was for normal screw threads. If you need to create an actual model of an Acme-style thread, you'll have to model the thread profile and then use a swept function to create the final model.
