Modeling Buried Storage Pipes

Just a quick question. I want to model underground pipe storage (5, 10' diameter pipes, 100' long) and want to get the general consensus on how to input the data. The pipes will not be installed level and will instead be located within a hillside (approximately 15% slope). Currently, I have the pipes modeled as separate ponds linked together. Would I be able to use the chanber wizard for this scenario or does the slope of the hillside, and thus the outlet piping leave too large a margin of error?

You only need the chamber wizard for embedded systems with chamber+stone storage. For storage in solid pipes (whithout the stone storage) just select the "Pipe Storage" option, which will let you set any slope you need.

Exactly what does your "outlet piping" consist of? Remember that modeling the pipes as a storage pond is only appropriate if you have an outlet control that is small enough to create a level pool within the pipe. (level WSE, not level bottom) Otherwise the pipes are providing conveyance, rather than pond storage, and need to be modeled accordingly.

I usually do an exterior, excel spreadsheet calc, of elev-vs-volume, incorporating any stone bedding void credit, various diameter pipe volumes and whatever ... then enter the accumulated volumes as volume data-vs-depth, into my routing program. If you have sloped pipes, you will need to modify your excel cell math to refelect the volume somewhat different from what a simplified level pipe volume calc is. You can use cadd to draw the pipes and diameters, and quickly get area & derived volume data that way.
 
Just to clarify: HydroCAD can calculate the total volume for any arrangement of pipes and other storage elements, including chambers and storage in stone voids. The pipes can be level or sloped.
