Hello,
I´m working on a model with cables on SAP 2000 and I don´t trust on the analysis results. On the following points I´m going to describe the process I have followed.
+ Assign cable sections
Cable type: Tension at I END - Force equal to 150 kN
+ Create Target load pattern
Type Nonlinear
+ Assign Target load
Target load = 150 kN
+ Modify the other load patterns
Type Nonlinear
Initial conditions: Continue from State at End of Nonlinear Case: Target
When I run de analysis, the first problem that I detect is that the axial forces on cables, showing the results of TARGET LOAD CASE, are not even close to the target load assigned previously (150kN); and there are some cables that show an axial force of zero. I am not pretty sure if it is because there is not convergence when the analysis is running the TARGET LOAD CASE (I have already tried to increase the maximum number of iterations).
Another problem that I detect is that I am getting compression forces on cables with some specific load combinations, mainly the ones that involved earthquake loads.
I would really appreciate any help or any comment.
