Hi,
I am designing a building that will be served by a district hot water heating system. The project is for the US Government, so it must achieve LEED Silver certification and meet EPACT 2005. I found that LEED has two options for modeling the building: Option 1 where the district energy plant is excluded, and Option 2 where the district energy plant is included. I am electing to use Option 1, since the existing district plant is not very efficient. Does anyone know if the Option 1 Proposed and Baseline energy models can be used to show compliance with EPACT 2005's requirement for 30% energy savings? It's unclear to me how to account for district energy for EPACT 2005. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
