Modeling / draffting appl.

Working with NX 4.0.4.2 TCE 9.1.3.8,

when working master/model principal and swithcing from the drafting to the model, the drafting application keeps on and you have to switch to modeling manual. The other way around the same thing happens, coming from modeling to the draft you enter the other window in modeling application.
Using shortcut keys like m and CTRL+SHIFT+d its pretty fast to switch to the desired application but is there a way where the application stays with the corresponding window? (appl. drafting in the drawing, and modeling when you swith to the model)

We have written a little grip routine and assigned that to a couple of custom buttons on the tool bar. clicking the button MM opens the master model and changes the applpication to modelling and click MMD flicks you back to the master model drawing and changes the appplication to drafting. Works a treat....

Here are the 2 grip (grx) files attached in the next 2 posts, press crtl and G to execute a grip file, if they work, create yourself a couple of buttons under the tools customize menu and use these as the actions for the 2 buttons. good luck.

GRX fles are machine dependent. What machine are these files compiled for?
Please post GRS files so other OS's can take advantage of these programs.

That's not 100% accurate. At this last PLM World I demonstrated my 31 year old (there's another thread here the covers the details of that story) GRIP program both during my normal 'What's new in NX 7.0' session (BTW, running a 31 year old GRIP program had nothing to do with NX 7.0 other than giving me the opportunity to tell the story behind it) and then again later in the week during our roll-out demo of NX on the MAC OS, where I included it as part of our emphasis of compatibility of existing data and such, and the image which I used was the exact same one I had used earlier in the week on my Windows-based laptop. In other words, the same GRX file ran on both Windows and MAC OS without having to be recompiled and relinked. Granted, the program did not perform any file management type tasks, such as opening, renaming, saving any files so it stayed away from any sort of machine specific issues of those types, but the executable image itself was compatible.

Now I have to warn you that "your mileage may vary" so if you wish to do something like this, make sure that you test it fully before making too many assumptions.

John, I based my comment on when we had OSF-1 and had to recompile the grip programs when we moved to Windows. I also think we had to recompile from Ultrix to OSF-1.
