Modeling in-elastic collision in ABAQUS FEA 1

Hello!
I am trying to model an inelastic collision of a ball into a rigid flat surface. I am trying to model the most basic of examples to obtain the coefficient of restitution. I am also neglecting the force due to gravity on the ball.

For my initial analysis I am planning to model a normal impact of the ball to the plate. However I am not able to make the ball bounce back up from the plate. I have tried the "Surface-to Surface contact" option and have kept a distance of 2 m from the plate. In my simulation the ball never really touches the plate. The visualization shows no rebounding of the ball either.

It would be extremely helpful if anyone could guide me through the process as this is my second week of using ABAQUS, and haven't found any relevant tutorials to solve my problem.

I have tried my hand in the problem the following way.
>Created two bodies, both analytically rigid (one solid sphere and a flat plate).
>Provided information regarding materials and created surfaces and assigned surfaces to relevant bodies.
>Then imported the bodies into the Assembly and offset the ball from the plate by 12m from the center reference point of the plate.
>I created one step/s in total (excluding the initial step), both of them pertain to "Dynamic/Explicit".
>In the "initial" step, I have predefined an initial velocity to the body.
>The next step, namely the "Gravity" step, I have defined the universal gravity condition.
>During Gravity step, the ball is under the influence of gravity and the flat plate is Encastered.

I am facing the following problems:
>>I am not able to see the ball touching the plate in the visualization (animation)
>>I am not able to simulate the ball bouncing from the plate

If anyone could guide me to a good reference material, I would be extremely grateful!

Dear Rob,
I was able to do the simulation, but the results are not coinciding with the theoretical values.
I am also finding significant interference among the meshes and tried making the slave surface to be more finely meshed, following an advice from PolymerFEA forum.
I am attaching my CAE file for your reference!

Mauali, Here is a running list of observations. I hope they help. -Rob
1. Turn on Nlgeom.
2. When initially viewing the geometry the deformation is scaled. Go to Options-Common-DeformationScaleFactor-Uniform-Value=1
3. Why are you modeling this as 'Dynamic, Implicit' instead of 'Static, General'?

Thank you so much for your timely reply and help.
I had initially done the analysis for the quarter sphere dropping into the plate (Impact analysis) and didn't modify the Step accordingly,it was careless of me.

I am also enclosing the CAE file for future reference.
