Hello everyone,

I have a modeling problem in Ansys Mechanical APDL.
I need to shape a circular concrete structure, which consists of two circular plates and a circular ring between them (as in figure).
The analysis is static, I want to analyze the weight of the structure.
The problem occurs in shaping the ring, if plates are type SHELL181 (determined by the shaft wall), the ring I tried to mold with elements of solid type, but these items do not allow the rotation (have only translations UX, UY, UZ) therefore do not reflect the real behavior of the ring.
The ring must rotate and translate, so I tried to mold the ring type element with beam188, but the issue here is how can I connect the points 1, 2 (see figure) with the beam section? There is a possibility you can create a contact between points 1, 2 of the plate sections with the beam section?

Thank you in advance!
