I've got a general question regarding modeling tubes.. such as A/C lines, hoses etc. Would one begin at 0,0,0 and create an upper level asy and constrain in car position and begin modeling in car that way? Also, for tubes and etc, I think GSD would be the best way to get guide curves for a multi-section solid???

Just curious...

Many ways to model tubes and hoses (with constant radius), including

- GSD Swept surface (easier than Multi-Section)
- Part Design Rib
- Tubing workbench

Working with car coordinates makes sense. Might want to use External References (contextual links) to copy points and lines from parts the tubes are being attached to.

It all depends on the shape. I can recommend to use "polyline" where you can set the bend radius in each point and then follow up with a "Swep" with type set to "circle" and the subtype set to "center and radius", the polyline will there be the center and you just need to set the radius

yeah, I was thinking of external references also, that way I'd have something to reference back to. I was mainly thinking of modeling an exhaust system. Using the block as the so called anchor point (once the decking/load is figured out from the roll study, these points shouldn't move). Use the anchor point and work from there... switching from GSD to Part Design and vice versa... Correct?

Both polyline and swep are in GSD so no jumping there, when you are finished swith to part designer and use thick surf.

use the thk surface to ensure equal wall thicknesses of the tubes correct? I guess alot will depend on what the end result needs to be...

Thanks for all the replies...
