I am modeling a steel fixture composed of W-sections. This fixture is a horizontal structure that will be used to hold a 40x20 building. I have modeled the fixture, but I need to model the building as well, in order to show the composite effect of the building. This building is just 4 walls and a roof. Here is my proposed procedure:

-Use the "Draw a Poly Area" to draw the walls and the roof.
-Assign>Area>Sections>Add new section>Thick shell>Modify Shell design parameters> Add material parameters

Is this the best way to model the walls and the roof, if I have a density, stiffness, and other material properties?

I may need a little more information to attempt an answer. When you say the fixture will "hold" a building, are you meaning that the building will sit on it? What do you mean by "composite effect" of the building? Is the building concrete? What are you trying to accomplish by supporting this building on a wide flanges?
