I'm interested what the "standard" is for modelling bolted attacments in small (thin) components. In the past I've only done analysis where the fasteners could be easily modelled out with appropriate BC assumptions, and I wasn't interestd in the fasteners themselves. Now looking at componenet analysis where it seems I won't get a very realistic result without a more refined approach. Already tried fixing the nodes within the fastener hole and (obviously) get unrealistic stress fields.
The two typical scenarios I'm interested in now are 1) want to determine actual fastener loads taking into account local structural behavior, and 2) want to capture stress field variations resulting from fastener locations and slight fastener variations (location, size and preload).
If there is a MSC manual or similar discussing these types of things, please point me in that direction. The tutorials showed using a function to describe the local load distribution, which assumes I know what function is appropriate. I've considered a multi solid model with contact analysis, but I'm looking for a simpler method to model only the single component.
