I am doing stress analysis of Piping. The piping that I am analysing contains a no. of Flex hoses. But I have a concern the way we model the Flexhose. First concern is whether Flexhose should be modeled as single piece, two-piece or multiple pieces. I have observed that modeling in two-piece or multiple pieces reduce the stress to a considerable extent. So the second concern what stiffness value should be used. We obtain the stiffness value based on live length, diameter and pressure. Hence I put the stiffness values as per the live length of each piece. Please comment on this.

srm7584,
To do the job correctly you need to get the stiffnesses (axial, lateral, torsional etc) for the flexibles and then include in the model. Good luck as it is virtually impossible to get these values for flexible hoses. Otherwise do as Kriegfix advises
