Hi :

I am trying to model a Tee-Joint Piping in Ansys.

What I have done so far is modelled to 2 cylinders of 8 inch radius intersecting at 90 degrees to each other. Next I am trying to create a fillet area of 24 inch radius at the intersection. However, Ansys is having trouble creating that fillet. Can someone suggest a better technique to model a Tee Joint.

Thanks

Perhaps you could try making the intersecting pipe slightly smaller in diameter (ex. 7.999" dia). The software is probably having trouble with the edge of the intersection.

The old-school way to approach it would be to calculate the bending/torsion/shear and apply appropriate stress concentrations from Peterson's. That should get you in the ballpark.
