Modify Numeric Data

We have a survey drawing with several (hundreds) data elevation points on it. They are all 'truncated'... for example the value 5.82 represents 500 + 5.82 for an elevation equal to 505.82. Is there a means of automatically adding the 500 to the number shown (not a text value of 50)?

For example the reason for not using text, there are also some data points at 12.82 and the elevation would be 512.82 and not 5012.82?

There are many lisp routines designed to do this, as well as other math on text items. They generally handle text objects, maybe not mtext with special formatting. Units after the number might cause a problem. Reply if you can't find any, I've got some somewhere.

Can't you just grab all the points and physically move them up 500'? Select one, rt click, Select Similar, Move @0,0,500

The values are not 3d... They are numbers in text format. UCS or moving them will not work.

Are the truncated values in a table and if so how were they entered into the table?

No... just data entered on a drawing... likely put there by the surveyor cad program... not even as attributes...

Are you using Civil 3D? If so: Click the Modify tab, on the Ground Data portion select Surface, then under Surface Tools pull down to Move Text to Elevation, then select the text objects with the elevations (you could isolate that layer, then select them all). This will move the text objects to their listed elevation. You can then use "Add Data" using "Drawing Objects" to add those elevations to a surface. Then you could Edit Surface - Raise/Lower Surface to move the whole surface up 500' to the right elevations.

Try the attached.
Remove the ".txt" file suffix so it's a ".lsp" file.

I'd be inclined to export the .DWG file as .DXF, then process that (text) file with 'awk'. ... but the effort of making and testing the .awk program probably exceeds the effort to just wade in and work on the .DWG file manually with the usual tools.
