Hi all,

I am currently working on a project that is investigating the use of butadiene oligomers; C8, C12, C16 isomers etc.

I would like to better quantify molecular branching in an attempt to correlated other characteristics which are to isomer (boiling point, surface tension, etc).

I have read about an "ISO Index" as a way of quantifying branching, but I can find no method or equation for this. The closest I've come is a paper written by Milan Randic in 1975 on the Characterization of Molecular Branching.

Could any of you fine people enlighten me as to the ways of this mysterious ISO Index or point me in the direction of useful references?

Many thanks
