Have a previous post where I touched on this, but have used it a lot more, so different questions added in this time, but still some of the previous as well.
Is there a setting that will change the "new-upgraded-better" dimension workflow back to how older (say... 2016 for instance) used to work? With the "smarter" dimensioning that Adesk has built in, I am having a lot more trouble getting dimensions in to the drawings, and in some cases, can't get it to work at all.
For instance... 3d model in modelspace, in a viewport in paperspace - Trying to dimension a miter angle on top of one of the viewports. Depending on which object geometry I click in the solid, it will NOT add an angular dimension because things are in at odd angles. Others, I click on a single line, and it tries to add an angular dimension.
Others, trying to do a schematic iso in modelspace (looking similar to oblique dims when done).... set the origin to the corner of the solid, and the ucs to the plane I want to dimension, and the dimensions to appear on, and then try to put in linear dimensions, say for a component 15' long, it throws in a 2 3/4" dimension way off the object, on a completely different ucs/plane than where I'm clicking.
Another - Still in pspace, dimensioning on a viewport to the model in mspace, I put in an angular dimension, and it looks correct when picking the second line, but as soon as I click to place it, it flips it outside. (If I have a line at 45 degrees, and click on the two lines to do that, it flips it to the outside and shows 135, even though where I click to place it is at 45, and it SHOWS 45 in the preview... Osnaps are off, so it's not jumping based on an unseen endpoint)
NEVER had these types of issues with the older versions. I want to dumb it back down so it is usable.

Image 1: Solid built, with notch... UCS origin set to the red sphere, parallel with ground. Green dimension added. Works as expected. UCS origin set to red sphere, vertical plane. Blue dimension added. Works as expected. UCS origin set to yellow sphere, vertical plane. Commands: Dim -> point 1 is corner in magenta circle, point 2 is endpoint within yellow sphere, all on the current UCS plane. Dimension that shows up is red, on that plane, but removed from object, and the nodes for the dimension are as shown with the highlighted grips on a completely different plane.
I have been unable to find a fix for this, and we work with a lot of odd geometry. Really want to be able to dimension like I used to before they made it "better".
I DO like some of the added items, so it isn't all bad, don't get me wrong. But, the problems by far outnumber the good.
