Dear Friends,
I have a situation which is similar to the thread 237-443212.Unfortunately the thread is closed. So I am starting a new thread. The motor current 450 KW centrifugal pump ( Cooling tower pump)driven by Soft starter. It takes high current during stopping. The stop (coasting ) mode selected is "PUMP STOP" and the coast down time to 0 secs !!.
The stopping torque is 20 % and stopping voltage is 0%.
The other settings are
a.Starting voltage 40%
b.Starting torque 10%
c.Limiting torque 150%
d.Current limiting value 400%

I have raised my objection on the 0.0 secs setting of "coast down time" .But the drive specialist says the time setting ( non zero value) is causing the high current drawn to be sensed by the 11KV breaker at 11/415 volt trafo ( incoming breaker),The pump is at basement and there is around 1.5 meter pipe length till the NRV.

Kindly provide your valuable inputs

Different soft starters do “pump control” in different ways. What make and model do you have?
