This question is wide, but i require help.
We have a compressor motor for which there is an excitation panel. It is connected with PLC system. So our system is Dual channel Digital Excitation system. We have two channels A & B. Normally channel A is kept selected.whenever we start the compressor channel A trips & Channel B takes over.We checked all the contactors but none was damaged. I know there can be many reasons, but any experience will be welcome

We would need more information on the motor and controller. For instance, the term "exciter" could mean anything; is the motor an AC synchronous or DC?

SElect channel B and see what happens. That will help to determine if the problem is a motor problem or a panel problem.

The motor is an AC synchronous Motor. There is a soft starter to start the motor & excitation system. There is also a PLC system connected. When we are starting the motor on Channel A, during synchronisation phase in the start the channel A trips & Channel B takes over, Motor is running fine on Channel B. So i diagnose that the problem is related to Channel A, or the problem may be also during starting with the synchronisation.

Start on channel "B". That will prove your diagnosis.
The problem may be as simple as a failing breaker, or possibly reversed polarity on channel "A".
