Dear All,

I would like to enquire whether hazardous area of the atmosphere surrounding the pump motor is the only determining factor for deciding on the requirement for motor purging i.e. when hazardous area is for example zone 1 & 2 of there are other vendor specific factors dictating the same?

Thanks

Regards,

Surely it has to be both ..

The zone which the motor is located designe / plant conditions

The motor supplier will determine the protection mechanism to allow that motor to be placed in that zone.

my understanding is it all about zoning..

im not electrical but see another requirement.

Purging may also be used to protect against corrosive or wet environments.
