Hi All,

Please let me know of any manufacturer/supplier who sells just stator/rotor assembly only. Basically it will be an oil filled motor housing.
One of my common supplier is Ziehl Abegg. I need some other options please. 100HP and above.
TIA.

Why not buy the fully assembled motor. It is not difficult to dismantle it. You would have the stater and the rotor.
I don't think it would be any cheaper to buy only the stater or the rotor along.

The stator and the rotor have to be matched (you most likely can't combine stator and rotors from different manufacturers).

So to buy a stator or rotor to put into an existing motor, you'll need to contact the motor OEM. Or else provide a 3rd party with enough drawing / information / parts for reverse engineering.

bempe16524 You're looking at a fairly specialized application if you're trying to match what Z-A is doing. Most machine designs are not intended for subsea (or even normally-submersible) applications. All manufacturers playing in that market have their own proprietary designs - which means they're not interchangeable except (maybe) as complete machines (i.e. cannot switch rotor-for-rotor or stator-for-stator).

If you're really looking at long (> 15 m) cable lengths between power source and motor, you're going to need some pretty good communications between motor guy and drives guy (AND cable guy) to be sure you aren't introducing some high frequency effects that will show up as mismatched impedance(s) and cause you to lose sleep later.

Thanks all for your kind reply. Our application is for underwater purpose. It could end up to 3000mtrs deep. So, we have to design our own housing that could withstand the pressure and fit our purpose.
Also, we have good experience of making the assembly by our self and yes, we normally purchased the rotor and stator as a package.
Disassemble the existing rotor/stator from the on-shelf motor is not a good option as we don't know the original exact dimensions, heat shrink, press fit, other process that the motor has experienced.
We decided to open the opportunity for the other suppliers as we are facing slow response from the common one.

Disassembly doesn't give you complete design information, but it's a heckuva lot better than nothing at all. I'd expect that any non-OEM vendor would want to have their hands on existing hardware to aid their reverse engineering (unless you have some really good drawings to share with them). Maybe that's what you're planning, I can't exactly tell from your comment.

I'd guess the mechanical aspects will end up the most challenging. But in general a reverse engineering effort should also look closely at the IEEE 112 equivalent circuit parameters so that the effect on motor performance can be estimated. It's particularly important for DOL start motors (where things like starting torque, starting current, breakdown torque etc are important). A small change in things like rotor conductor alloy or airgap dimensions can end up having a big effect on these. Maybe it's not as important for vfd motors like yours, outside of things like vfd tuning and motor efficiency estimation? (I don't know, I don't work with vfd's). Gr8blu's impedance matching comment I guess would be looking at characteristic impedance, a different parameter not captured in equivalent circuit parameters.

Contact Reuland Motors in California.
They custom build motors of all types.

Ziehl Abegg has this type of rotor and stator unit:

and we have done quite a lot of housings for this type since last 20 years. as time flies, we need to prepare ourself for the worst, can't rely on one supplier.

not a problem at all. we have designed the housing and mechanical interface for the rotor and stator.
and all other important element for the interface to the hydraulic pump.
and yes, the motor assemblies survived 3000 mtr water depth.
