I am looking at 3-phase motors for a project. The budget dictates that I consider motors made overseas by brand names that don't have "Baldor" in them.
The standard flea-bay purchasing caution is in effect.
When I see a motor such as this (see photo below) I am not sure I understand what I'm looking at. Two curiosities jump out at me:
[ul]
[li]The key on the shaft seems to be "one piece". Could the shaft of this motor be CAST??[/li]
[li]The shaft seems to have a bored-out center. What should I expect here?[/li]
[/ul]
If it helps, the subject motor is 3-phase, 5PH, 1770 RPM, 230/460V, 60Hz in a TEFC 184T cast frame.
