I am starting to make a study on how to design a mounded
storage tank ( cylindrical in sand bed and spherical on concrete ring-support covered with sand ).
Is there anywhone who can give information on how
to start such a study.
I searched Internet but the only interesting document I found was EEMUA publication nbr. 190
I particulary interested in the design of these vessels ,
i.e. determining panel thickness and stiffener size.
I read some general books like Timoshenko , Roark's formula's , but my main problem is how to define the loading of the above sandbed and the influence of a non-uniform support along the tank ( non-uniform bedding-modulus ).
Can anyone direct me to the information I need to complete my study ?
