My company decided to move existing pro/e files (several hundreds) to an Intralink vault. I've been appointed to coordinate this job. I do have an overall plan how to do this but any suggestion from peopele who's gone through this process would be more than welcome. We are using Wildfire 2 and Intralink 3.4.
I know that I have to start first with top level assy drawings. I have to open them up first (one by one in Pro/E) save them in workspace and then check them in to the vault. The big thing is actually to populate with attributes every file that is checked in. Is there any way to have this operation done for batch files.
We have never use any PDM system before. We had a certain degree of dicipline in naming and sorting our files.
What other things should I consider before I start moveing these files into the Vault?
Thanks!

Actually, I would load the files in this order:
Standard components
project specific components
sub-assemblies
assemblies
drawings

That way the system should use the parts already in Intralink for its dependencies as higher level files are loaded.

Thanks looslib, I'll remeber that.

One thing that you may fine useful is the ability of Wildfire to add parameters to all components of an assembly, and fill them with the same data.
To do so, highlight all parts (and sub-assemblies) in the model tree, right click & Edit Parameters.
Then you can add the parameters to all files of the main assembly, and give them a default value. If you need to modify the attributes individually afterwards, you can either do it through Wildfire or Intralink.
