Hi,

I`m using SAP-17 to build a bridge model. I don`t have the bridge modeler license, so making the bridge from scratch in sap2000.
The bridge is a steel girder bridge with concrete deck (composite system). However between the stiffeners in transverse direction there are lateral bracings. Therefore I modeled them using rigid link along the web of the girders and connected the bracing to the links.
For the vehicles I assigned lane loads and vehicle moving loads to the girders.
I get the right moments on my girders, but don`t get the right reactions from the supports which are connected to the link elements.
Can someone tell me if I`m making a wrong assumption using rigid links?
Thank you,
A

What are the definitions of links? if you fixed all 6DOF then high value of stiffness (usually 1 to power of 11) and thus the link act rigid and no forces are transferred to substructure. I use CSiBridge for quite some time. I suggest you try different fixity for link and check the results (Devil lives in details:D)

Peace
