I am trying to move a section view of a part to a subsequent drawing sheet (sheet 3) leaving the parent that the section view was taken from where it is (sheet 2).

I am using SW2010 SP2. I have done this many times before in previous versions of SW and am not having any luck. I can easily move any other projected view, but not a section view. I have tried breaking the alignment of the view to the parent, that did not work either.

Am I missing something?

No problem here.

Using the View Manager panel;
1) Activate the sheet containing the section view
2) Drag and drop the section view onto the title (top line) of the target sheet.

Just drag it in the feature manager. Make sure the sheet you're dragging it from is the active sheet. Alternatly you can copy the sheet and delete what you don't want.

Im on 09 not sure if things changed in 2010.

Thanks, worked like a charm, easier and qicker than the copy or cut and paste method. greatly appreciated.

if you copy and paste a section is it still linked to the section line. so if you change the line placement will the view change as well?
