New to MSE (reinforced soil). Engineers are looking at options for slope stabilization and one is a reinforced slope using reinforced soil, perimeter drain, and TMA turf reinforcement mat. As I understand it, reinforced soil has geosynthetics in it. About how much does MSE (reinforced soil) go for per m3 or per yd3?

Each slope stabilization project is unique and can't be costed based on generalities. Costs will depend on the specifics of the design, access, size of grid required, excavation restrictions, etc. Suggest you have your geotechnical and civil engineers work together to prepare an estimated cost.

Some might say contact a contractor. I'd be very careful about doing that. The reason is a person looking at that sort of thing and deciding they can do it also, can result is some significant unknown costs and failure of the job. It takes significant experience for not only the engineer but also any contractor, since things can go wrong.

The cost of reinforced soil per cube would depend on;

1) The spacing between the geogrid reinforcements in the soil,
2) The type of geogrid being used and,
3) The availability of suitable earth-fill on site.

Points 1 and 2 need to be determined by a geotechnical engineer based on detailed stability analyses. The geotechnical engineer would also need to state how far back into the slope the reinforced soil must extend- this would probably end up being the greatest variable for total cost.

All the best,
Mike
