MTRs Acceptance Question?

A company purchases and receives a full coil (approx. 26 sheets) of stainless steel plate.

One MTR accompanies the lot and it states "Qty 7 sheets" with Ht No 34645.

Is it acceptable to approve the remaining 19 sheets that are identified as Ht No 34645?

Is the MTR from the mill? Did the mill level the coil and shear to sheets or was this done by a service center? Is the thickness stated on the MTR the same as the thickness of the material? I'd ask for a corrected MTR

Since they include the packing list with the MTR package I would expect it to meet what I actually received.
There are times that I get ones that don't list a quantity. I am OK with that, just not ones that don't match.

I agree with EdStainless. The problem is not that the MTR doesn't list the quantity received, it is that the MTR is not correct.

Sheets are all 60" wide but vary in both lengths and thickness but have the same heat number. Sheets are from more than one coil although the majority of sheets have the same heat number.

We are going back to the manufacturer for MTRs for the remaining sheets or (at a minimum) may accept a C of Cs cross referencing the packing list.

Appreciate you comments as they are both informative and helpful in substantiating my opinion.

Do you have any way to determine which of the 7 sheets out of the 26 delivered can be traced back to the HT batch number. The C of C provided is the vendor's guarantee that the product delivered meets your purchase order requirements. So to decide whether your receiving inspection should accept or reject the delivery, you need to compare the documentation provided versus what your purchase order requires. Does your PO require 100% traceability by HT batch number?

If you have sheets of different thicknesses, they did NOT come from the same coil. They could have been from the same heat and have the same chemistry, but the mechanicals would be per coil or slab number if this is SA-240 material.
