Project requires a lintel for a 14" brick wall. I was going to use galvanized angles. It will be 3 angles. I was going to show it with a plate welded to the bottom of the 3, to close of everything. What have you folks done in the past?

I've done two 6" angles, one from each side. A lot depends on the size of the opening.

Where is your third angle? How is that going to work?

The wall is 3 wythes thick, so I figure a angle for each, plate to close it off for finishes.

Something like this with a plate

You can also do a plate with a pair of plates turned up as stems. If it's either architecturally palatable or will be concealed, do two angles angles and have the vertical legs on the outside, demo the opening, and then weld in the plate (the central wythe will usually be fine for the duration of the process). This is bad on an exposed exterior wall, though, as there's no way to drain it.

They will be taking the wall down and rebuilding it I believe.

Is it existing or new brick? For existing, I got a different answer for you. For new, the answers above make sense.

Its a existing wall that needs to be redone. To keep with historic nature they were going to rebuild as is. this is over a window that is heavily damaged from too many remodels. About a 4 ft span i think.
