Hi I am quite new to FEA/CFD modelling and need some advice on the best software package to use. We need a software that is capable of performing interactive CFD and FEA analysis, (to analyse flow pattern and the impact of hydraulic loading on the stress on components) Ansys, Simulia and Comsol seems to be amongst the most popular ones on the market, does any one have any experiences in using any of them for multiphysics analyis and can offer any advice of what the pros and cons for each of them are?Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Out of the three I've only used Abaqus (Simulia) extensively. It has only recently introduced a CFD capability and from briefly playing around with it it falls short on a number of features I would expect a CFD solver to have. That said I'm sure there are improvements coming down the line in later releases.

Ansys has a strong CFD capability in Fluent and also has a good FE solver so may be worth having a look at.

I've never used Comsol so can't really advise on it.

Thanks a lot for your advice. I think we have narrowed down to using either Ansys or Comsol now. If anyone can share any of their experience in either of these software, would be greatly appreciated.

Think I'll have to repost this outside the Abaqus forum then.
