Why multiple firefighting risers are used in big shopping malls. which code drives this selection. How much is the maximum coverage area for a riser. Or how much maximum sprinklers a riser can feed. For example if I have total 200,000 sq. ft. area to protect. How many risers should I use for a single or double storey building. I need code reference or standard practice.@TravisMack's

A shopping mall is typically Ord Haz Grp 2. Refer to NFPA 13 (2013) 8.2.1 for area limitation of 52k sq ft per floor for OH. If your building is 100k sq ft per floor and you can lay out the systems perfectly, you can get by with 2 systems per floor. However, it is likely that you will need 3 as you won't be able to get a perfect layout. If you are 200k sq ft on a single floor, then you may be able to make it with 4 systems, but likely 5 due to wall configuration and such. This all assumes that the systems will be hydraulically calculated.

You also need to check your fire code for possible standpipe requirements. Covered Malls have standpipe requirements that may come in to play.

I would CLOSELY review the requirements in the building code, if applicable.
This is a covered mall situation where you are limited to like 9500 SQ FT. per "zone". (2 retail shops max combined).
This results in a LOT of other "System Risers" located throughout.
This is in addition to the System Risers Tmack mentions.
