Multiple select with or without Control key 1

Hello

I have used DS for a while now, getting used to pressing the control key to select multiple entities (clicking one by one, not using the select rectangle). However, after the latest update it has gone back to being able to select multiple entities without holding down the control key.
I searched and I searched, in the menus, in the help, using google etc. but I just can't find where you set this preference.
Anybody found this? Or at least know what I'm referring to?
