Multiple Surface Texture (Ra, Rk, Rpk) designation for a single surface 1

Hello,

I have a single surface with Ra 0.5, Rk 1.8, and Rpk 1.2 surface texture requirements.

NX only allows me to stack 2 different values atop one another.

I'm uncertain as to whether this is a software limitation or ASME standard.

Can the requirements be separated to 2 symbols, or is there a better way to accomplish this?

I believe the symbol is only allowed to have two parameters but you can call out as many as you want. I have used multiple symbols on a single surface. You can always write a note as well.

The Help for this program was created in Windows Help format, which depends on a feature that isn't included in this version of Windows.

I would agree with dgallup that it would be best to use a flag note to explicitly describe the surface texture condition you require, since it seems quite specific. The method of standardized symbols for surface texture callouts is used to simplify things, but obviously this approach has limitations. It is never wise to put anything on an engineering drawing that is not explicit or is open to interpretation.

Thank you, dgallup and tbulena for the reply. The idea of using a note hadn't occurred to me . I like that suggestion!

There is actually an ISO standard (ISO 1302) that describes in great detail how to apply surface texture call outs on an engineering document, including several ways of combining notes and modified symbols for situations like yours where the standard approach is not suitable.

Thank you again. You have been a tremendous help. It is much appreciated.
