Hello. Long time lurker but I have a bit of a project here. I have a multispan rigid frame bldg with non-prismatic members for both the columns and beam. The rigid frame has one interior column. So 3 columns total.

I am wondering if anyone has any literature on analysis/design of non-prismatic rigid frames. I am hoping there is some guidance on how to determine the capacity of a non-prismatic column. As well as some guidance on how to analyze the knee joint. I can do an FEM local model of the knee joint - but having some backup hand calcs would be good for sanity.

Just FYI this is an existing frame and I am evaluating it so it is not new design.

This would be a good place to start.

I've had success with Design Guide 25. Its not a trivial task but its quite satisfying.

Thanks Kootk. 400+ pages wow. Will need to spend some time looking through this.
