Where can I find the best and simplest explanation of the Muskingum Hydrologic Routing Method to create hydrographs with the SCS unit hydrograph method for runoff( or will one of you please provide one)?

Also recommend Stormwater Management, Martin P. Wanielista and
Hydrology, Water Quantity and Quality Control by Wanielista, Kersten and Eaglin. The latter comes with software called SMADA which includes many useful utility programs and hydrograph calculation. Both excellent books.

Good luck.

You are lumping together two very different and independent kinds of calculations. The SCS UH procedure, is a hydrograph RUNOFF method. It generates a runoff hydrograph resulting from a specified rainfall on an area of land. Muskingum is a hydrograph ROUTING method. It takes an inflow hydrograph, routes it through a structure, and produces an outflow hydrograph.

Watershed modeling typically involves runoff hydrograph generation and routing, but they are typically distinct steps. For more details you can check the National Engineering Handbook, Section 4: Hydrology (NEH-4) You'll find a link at
