My .DWG woes

I've tried pretty much everything I can think of to import my ACad2006 drawings into Pro/E. Everything I try to do is met with "Invalid DWG file". I've tried adding reference points on my drawings, converting to different formats and importing into other programs as kind of a "middle man" style of perhaps making Pro/E recognize the file using peer pressure or something, I really don't know. Are there any known issues with 2006 and Wildfire 3.0? Running Windows XP Professional. Thanks ahead of time.

Pro/E recognize the file using peer pressure or something

that's funny...not sure about 2006 and wf3....


but you might try dxf, see if that's any better

Is WF3 (I'm WF2) supposed to open acad 2006?
2D drawings or models (what kind of geometry)?
Importing or opening as drw?

I doubt I can help much, rarely import dwg, don't
know if WF2 knowledge is relevant. Knowing what
you're starting with and how you're trying to get
it over the fence might help someone provide an
answer.

Try saving the Acad file in an older version and then do your import. I think 2004 should work.

The default file format for AutoCAD 2006 is 2004 format and it has the ability to save back to a 2000 format file.

Yes, the AutoCAD 2007 DWG file format has been updated and is different from the 2004/2005/2006 DWG file format. This new format is also used in the latest releases of the Autodesk industry-specific products such as Autodesk® Architectural Desktop, Autodesk Map® 3D, Autodesk® Civil 3D®, AutoCAD® Electrical, and AutoCAD® Mechanical software applications. Nonetheless, you can still easily share files between design teams using any previous version of AutoCAD. As in the past, this version of AutoCAD opens DWG files created in earlier versions of any Autodesk product.
