Our sales guys are constantly being asked for NACE compliant material when they are putting together quotations. For this scenario, let's just assume they are referencing either MR0175 or MR0103 and the product is a cast aluminum flange adapter for an atmospheric storage tank.
Why would the customer require NACE compliance on the aluminum? Just wondering if anybody else has seen this from customers. If their design permits the use of aluminum, and aluminum is not subject to SSC, why require a certificate stating that it is NACE compliant? I suppose the supplier could make a statement on the CoC/MTR, stating that the material is compliant.
