How do I know if there is a NACE requirement on a pump? If the piping going in or out has NACE requirement is this enough to justify NACE on the pump? If not what kind of info would I need to have to make decision?

There are so many NACE standards. Please confirm the service condition of pump first.
If you are concerned about wet sour service in refinery plants, please go the NACE MR0103, Section 9. The chemical control, hardness limitation, and specific heat treatment may be basic requirements.

Tom is correct. Which NACE standard is applicable? Generally, if the piping requires NACE then it's obvious the pump must be supplied to comply with NACE too.

I think that "NACE requirements" it's like say nothing because you have to specify your environements, conditions, facilities. If you are talking about Sour Service requiremtns in Oil & Gas upstreama you need the NACE MR 0175 / ISO 15156 , if you are in refinery, than use the MR 103. Howeverif you service, piping in/out, are under NACE Sour Service requiremtns it will be a direct consequence that even the pump shall follow the same requirements.

Hope this help
