Dear all,

I have a new vessel shipped to site in US and the ASME nameplate with NBR got damaged and need to be replaced in kind. Is it mandatory per ASME to have AI witness the new and damaged nameplate to make sure they are identical, or just have the owner to witness and agree to replace ? We have no AI at site but the plant owner only.

UG-90(c) of ASME Section VIII, Div. 1 requires the AI to verify nameplate data is correct and it is attached to the vessel.

NBIC Part 2 requires Form NB-136 be completed for missing or illegible nameplates. The Form must be presented to the Jurisdiction of where the vessel is installed. The AI has to verify the nameplate data and attachment to the vessel.
