I'm trying to model a wing leading edge rib. The overall rib section is a C". The rib web is modelled with CQUAD elements and the flange with CBEAM elements. The outstanding flange around the edge of the rib (which forms the top and bottom horizontal 'legs' of the 'C') is 60mm wide.
The CBEAMs are in the plane of the web and I want to use 'offset' to account for the outstanding flange. The question is what value do I use for the offset? Some say it is half the flange width ie 30mm others say it sould not be as much as that as I should consider part of the web as being effective.
Any help would be appreciated.

hi TDI,

it depends how you modelled the rib web.
If you made it high as the total height of the beam ... the offset should be -30mm.
