Natural Gas Equivalent

Good day,

I am looking for a way to convert the electricity used by a plant into a natural gas equivalent. Our plants are natural gas based and additionally consume electricity from the local grid. For a better overview I would like to get an energy utilization of XX mmbtu/mt product (LHV) including both natural gas and electricity consumption.

With respect to the natural gas consumption the utiliztion calculation is pretty straight forward as I do have the gas composition, conditions and molar flow. But how can I calculate the natural gas equivalent for the electricity which is used? The heating value I calculate is thermal... I guess the requirement here is to convert electric energy into thermal energy and then see how much gas is required. I somehow struggle to do so. Any help would be highly appreciated.

Kind regards,
Ann
