Background:
Often times an fabricator "R" organization constructs the parts to be used in and Alteration only, and a different installer "R" organizations installs the parts in the field. Both "R" stamp holders are required to sign a FORM R-2 certify the work they performed. Calculations are often contracted out by the fabricator "R" stamp holder.
Section 3.2.4 (b) states, in part, that the "R" certificate Holder performing alterations shall establish the construction standard of code and sufficient controls to ensure that all required design information, applicable drawings, design calculations ...... are prepared , obtained, controlled, and interpreted to provide the basis for an alteration in accordance with the original code of construction.
Section 3.2.5 states, in part, that all design calculations shall be completed by an organization experienced in the design portion of the standard used for construction of the item.
Question: When calculations are contracted out by the fabricator "R" organization, does the fabricator "R" in completing the FORM R-2, Report of Alteration:
1. Fill in Line 1a. of FORM R-2 with the name of the organization that was contracted to and performed the design calculation for the Alteration, or
2. Fill in Line 1a. with the name of the fabricator "R" organization
