NDE FOR LIFT LUGS

Is anyone aware of a specific requirement in D.1.1 for NDE of lift lug attachment welds. We're talking about 1/2" thick carbon steel attached with a fillet weld.

I reviewed an earlier edition of AWS D1.1 and I could not locate any supplemental NDE requirements for lifting lug attachment welds, other than visual inspection. With that said, I would still probably specify a wet fluorescent MT of the lifting lug attachment welds because of their stated function. Wet fluorescent MT is easy enough to perform and is cost effective to assure weld quality.

Thanks for the reply. I have the 04 edition and was unable to locate a specific requirement. Our standard is to perform visible PT if there are no other customer requirements.
