NDE Tests for Joints of HDPE Pipe and Fittings

Hi! I would like to know the importance of NDE (UT & RT) tests in HDPE Pipes and fittings joined by butt-fusion, extrusion or electrofusion methods?
Is it necessary to check the all joints with NDE testing when joining method followed based on standard parameters (like fusion material, temp, fusion pressure, cooling time etc.) Because i read that the NDE test results for these joints are minimum and not essentail. Can anybody explain in this regard?
