Need advice with career move

I got "let-go" about 1 month ago from my last job. I was a Process Engineer at a manufacturing plant. I also did mechanical design and tooling design. The reason was that my work was "unsatisfactory" but I think this was a cost cutting move. I had worked for this company for 4 years.

Anyway, I have started up my own company now which has been a dream of mine. I do mechanical design and machine safety sign-offs. I am also looking into HVAC and process piping design. The problem is it seems to be very slow out there. How long does it take to establish a solid client base? Where/how do I find clients? Sometime I am tempted to start sending out my resume, but I know that you can't run a business and look for a job at the same time.
Any advice from self starters? Thanks.

As for Process Piping Design, go to

and register. then look for the buttons at the top of the page. Read everything there under "Training", "Tips", "Tools", "Standards" and spend time going through the questions and answers on the "Forum".

Then hire yourself a real experienced Process Piping Designer to teach you what it all means.
