Off track for one second.... UGS does not provide any installtion suppport whatsoever. It's like they forgot to include it. Anyway... I've just made up the crap account cause this is the only website that looks like it has proper solid edge help.

I have version 17 but uninstalled it quite awhile ago. Now i need it again i tried to install it this afternoon only to find an error once it got to the solid edge installtion. it said that there's a current solid edge installtion on the computer, which is a load of crap, and i should go to the add/remove programs to uninstall it.

problem is THATS HOW i uninstalled it in the first place. I don't know where my comp stuffed up but I'd like some EXPLANITORY answers please (some sites i go to don't make any sense).

thanks in advance
:)

Hi,

Something wrong must have occured during your last uninstall.

You will have to delete the folders manually in program files, clean up the local and user registries (unigraphic solutions) {NB: export them first as a backup just in case} and finally reboot the computer before starting the installation.

HTH,

Fred

Maybe there's still a kind of installation in your registry...

Go to start menu and select run...

Type 'regedit' and hit enter.

Find: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Then: SOFTWARE
Select: Unigraphics Solutions

Delete this directory (don't worry, this is safe even when solid edge is installed, helpful for when toolbars mess up for example)

Good Luck, IJsbrand

Try running the SECleanupAll.exe in the ..\SptTools\SECleanup folder on your SE v17 CD's.

This is supposed to automatically clean up all registry settings left behind by an unsuccessful attempt with Add/Remove Programs.

Also, make sure you don't have the Solid Edge Viewer installed, as this is a conflicting application.

Finally, if neither of those work, you could always install Solid Edge v17 as if this is a multiple version installation, although this is technically not supported. Start a command prompt and key in the following.

msiexec /i "...path\Solid Edge V17.msi" MULTIVERSION="Yes"

Regards,

Kevin
