Hi everyone!
I need a good motor for industrial fan but I’m quite puzzled, cause the variety of models is very wide.
I stooped my choice at three brands WEG, Baldor and Leesson. So possibly I could consult with you guys here:
Single HP
1725 or 1800 RPM
Three Phase
TEFC preferred
56C frame size

Which technical specifications to consider else?
Any experience with these motors? [ponder]

1800 RPM is the motor synchronous speed, but induction motors always run at less than synchronous speed. Normal speeds range between 1725 RPM and 1760 RPM.
Standard voltages are 230/460 Volts.
If you are in a rural area subject to fairly wide voltage swings, or if you are on a 120:208 Volt supply, look for a motor rated for 200-230/460 Volts or 208-230/460 Volts.

thanks waross,

three-phase power is available,

Have you heard something about the WEG? their price suits me the best

I know that it is manufactured in Brazil and it seems like it deals better with humidity

"Have you heard something about the WEG? their price suits me the best"

There is a reason why their price looks favourable. ;-)

Thanks, I plan to order it online. I could not find nothing in 1800 RPM, there is 1725 RPM and I’ll purchase the motor from this store (however, I haven’t heard about them and I worry)
I have not purchased the parts via the Internet, it will be the first my try. I used to buy it from my local dealer, so let’s hope I won’t get something used.

My experiences with Weg would make me stay away. I have had multiple failures on brand new out of the crate motors. Yes, they were very good at replacing them at their expense, including air freight, but my time to replace them and project delay costs were left to me to bear. Yes, I know many people are perfectly satisfied with Weg motors, and maybe they have their act together now with regard to quality cntrol, but I tend to remember things like that for a long time. I have never once had an out of the crate failure on a Leeson or Baldor motor.

Also, if this is going to be run from an inverter drive, I'm suspicious of Weg's claims about all of their motors being "inverter duty". That term has no official definition, anyone can claim anything. I look at all of the actual construction details, not just the magnet wire onsulation and when I have looked at Weg, their details are sketchy at best, which leads me to believe they purposely leave them out.

Actualy, I also was suspicious regarding the WEG. So, it is better to pay more but to take more quality product.

Interesting thread! We never made bad experience with WEG but with others neither, apart from a Turkish manufacturer who's 10 HP, 4-pole Motor started to smoke after 30 minutes on our test stand at half load (but that was 15 years ago). WEG is famous in mining. So, I think their quality is not bad. But as all or most of the others they own in the meantime a manufacturing facility in China, too. And that is my question: Do Baldor and Leeson still manufacture in USA only?

Siemens for example owns former MEZ Motors in the Czech Republic. Motor distributors buy exactly the same motors from the MEZ factory but then the motors are not labelled with Siemens' name although the motors are 100 % identical.
